That said, sorry to hear your troubles. There's no reason you should allow them to force you into a 12k decision just to be nice.

Ahmet I really apologize about not getting back to you. When I found out about the situation regarding the shop I did not want to give anyone information that I was not sure of yet with regards to price. I was in a state of shock at what had happened with my car yesterday and was very angry at the fact that I had lost my opportunity to sell the car to someone who could pick it up for 1/3rd of what I am going to have to sell it for now.

Something is not right. Why would a shop replace a engine without a written consent?
#38
Without written authorization, no charge can be made for any work or parts used. The Authorization for work done etc, is very clear for Auto repair shops. It comes under the B&P code. The engine must be returned to you when asked for. I am not sure, but the shop could disassemble the engine, and re assemble it with all of your old parts etc, and returned to you in the same state you gave it to them. This work cannot be charged either. You may check that, it may also be their loss and it must be returned in its present state without charge. They do not have a leg to stand on here. You control the situation. If it goes to court, they will lose, and could also be liable for any expenses you incurr. These could be Rental car charges, legal fees etc. Good luck.
