hole in the side of the block. I honestly do not know what is reasonable to ask. I am open to reasonable offers.

Guys...I had a huge problem with my shop today...They built the entire motor without me ever giving them the ok to build it! I will not name names just to keep the respect of those involved because we have had a long standing relationship with racing, but it looked as though I had buyers lined up for the car "as is" and when I called today to get my parts list I heard that the motor was built and ready to be put in the car. My bill is near 12k! I am outraged and very angry and I apologize to anyone who PMed me and I did not return their PM. Obviously I can no longer sell the car "as is" and am now stuck trying to sell a 20k car instead of a 5 or 6k car. What sucks even more is that I had a race car lined up and now I have to pass on the exact car I was looking for and instead try to sell my 944 that has an essentially new motor, new clutch and just about everything else on it! If anyone is looking for a fresh 944 turbo, please let me know because that is how I have to sell it now

That's terrible. Can't you just tell them you don't want the engine and they never told you about it so o well?

Derek, my level of anger is at a height it probably has never been at before because we have spent about 50k at this shop(again I refuse to name names) but they are giving me a very raw deal and I do not know if it is that easy to just refuse it. I am going to go there tomorrow in person and have a long conversation about this situation. It pains me because I searched long and hard for the car that I have found but will now have to pass on it because of this issue. Needless to say I will probably have to find a new shop in the future, but it just sucks that it had to end this way because I have sent so much work their way

no, no written contract, but I did ask him to send me a quote and options as to what we were going to do before any work was done. I explicitly asked this when we spoke many times on the phone. I wanted to excercise my options before making any decisions but now I have no options left!

problem is he didnt put stock parts in it. They are all race parts. Everything from the connecting rods on. He went all out on the motor when he knew damn well I was trying to sell the car. But I guess the new owner gets a hell of a car now

Ah ok, I assumed. Either way...12k is still a lot. I hope you can sort things out without it getting ugly.

My only problem is.....i tend not to like to make things explode especially because I am a very active PCA member and do not want to create tension. I have another shop very nearby my house which does a lot of high end race cars and I think they might be my new outlet, but for now if anything I want to let them know how angry they have made me after all this time that I have been a very loyal customer

I have been trying to get in touch with you to buy that car from you. I was ready to offer you quite a bit more than the offers you've had so far. You really ought to at least get back to the people that maybe interested in your car after advertising it for sale...

That said, sorry to hear your troubles. There's no reason you should allow them to force you into a 12k decision just to be nice.
