Finally drove the car with the Vitesse MAF and 38mm Tial
Drove the car down to the shop yesterday and back up today. About 40 miles each way, was dropping the car off for some custom rollbar work, see my other thread.
This was really the first time I put some miles on the car since I installed the Vitesse MAF, 55# injectors and Tial 38mm wastegate.
I quickly found out that I'd plumbed my Greddy ebc wrong with the Tial on the way down to the shop, as my boost controller was my right foot! Oops...
Picked the car up today and while still at the shop, Greg East and I went over the Tial plumbing and quickly found that a: I'm a moron. b: I plugged the wrong damn hoses into the wrong damn hoses.
I swiftly swapped the hoses and got outta there. Ta Da, boost controller works! Wow, all it takes is to hook it up right. Duh...
Have the Greddy set WAY lower than for the stock shimmed wastegate at the same levels. It's at 32% now, I was at 48% before.
Boost seems to hold all the way now, but I was driving home in rush hour traffic, so I didn't really get to hammer on it.
The MAF makes a significant difference in throttle response and drivability. It also makes way cool noises...
So far, so good...

cool - I'm thinking of getting a Greddy ebc as my next upgrade, so out of interest / for reference, what *is* the right way to hook it up to a Tial? I did a search a few weeks ago but there seemed to be conflicting advice. Also, do you think the MAF is good enough to justify as an intermediate step between stock/chips and upgrading the turbo? Or would you perhaps think it is better to hold out and save up for the turbo+map kit? I suppose it doesn't really matter since you can ask to have the maps put in for the turbo planned for the future, and then get a discount on the turbo kit later since you don't need the MAF, is that right?

From the top port of the Tial into the Com port on the Greddy. Then from the intercooler pipe, T'd off to the side port of the Tial and the NC port of the Greddy.
I do think the MAF is a nice intermediate step, as the turbo costs alot more. With Vitesse you can pay a bit more and he'll burn the turbo maps onto your chip so all you have left to buy is the turbo...

..those damn hoses!
Oh yeah, a Vitesse MAF, EBC, and a Tial is a pure no-brainer on these cars. Just make sure your suspension is up for it! Bigger turbo and a 3" exh really bring the package together.

Even with the SciVision unit and the stock airbox, you can hear the turbo
When I drive over 4500 rpm at WOT, the sound is terrific in relation to the sound with the stock AFM !
