Default Updated Offsets? - Track Gurus - Can I fit 18X11 Hollow spoke Twists on my 87 951

I am putting a car together for track days and have bought a set of slicks that require about an 11" rim. I can get a set of 18X11 ET 45 Hollow Spoke Twists and was wondering if they fit on the rear of my 87 951. I would also like to know what is the maximum width front rim I should use? (also for slicks)

Update I have given up on using the 18X11s and will now look for some Narrow Body 18X8 and 18X10 rims. I traded my slicks for a smaller set that can be mounted on these rims. I have the following questions:

Offsets for the available rear wheels seem to run between 45 and 65MM The originals are around 52MM What offsets will fit (with a pretty wide tire)?

Aftermarket Italian wheels are available on Ebay. They are a little heavy, but look otherwise OK. Does anyone have experience with these wheels? Opinions?

Ebay Twists

These are lighter

I have used that sort of wheels on my car. With the correct spacing 265's in the front on 10" wheels is no problem..

I have 275-17's on 10" wheels all around. Due to front brake cooling ducts, only one steering wheel turn in each direction is available. No problem on the track but care is required in the paddock. I can see 10-1/2" in back abut not sure about 11".

Don't think it'll work. I wasn't really able to fit 18x10 ET40 993 wide body wheels on my car. They almost fit and if I wasn't so **** about rubbing, they'd be ok. An extra inch with only 5mm of offset will push it over the edge tho...

You can fit a factory '04 996TT 295/18" with rolled rear fender lips (S and '89+ cars already have this).

Tight, but it clears and is the largest rim/tire you'll get w/o flares or cutting sheet metal.

Tony,

I'm looking to mount some slicks. Are the wheels you mentioned 18X11 or 18X10? Also do you know the weight difference between Solid and hollow spokes?

The solid spoke 10"'s weigh about 7-8lbs more than the hollow spokes.

Like I said, I couldn't really fit the wide body 10" rear wheels on my 951S, which does have rolled rear fenders. I highly doubt I could fit the 996 wide body 11" rear wheels...

Correction from me, I had the 10" 993 twists with 295 mm wide Dunlop SSR tires.

Thanks, that's good information. I guess I bought the wrong size slicks.

I guess I could flare the fenders. Are there any decent looking flares available? I saw some on Ebay but they were pretty awkward looking.

Just get the narrow body hollow spoke wheels. The offset is 65mm vs the wide body 40mm. That's what I did...

That on the front or the back?
I have an '89, am looking for R-spec, not sure what to put on the front, 235/40 18 or 265/35 18, that is all that is available, but a 10" wheel wont fit on the front would it?

I haven't tried a 10" in the front but there could be room with the correct offset. A 265/285 combo is popular here in Sweden but I am unsure of what rim width and offsets they are running.

Thanks Anders, I am leaning towards the 265/285 combo, just trying to work out what that width/offset should be

I am finally giving up on mounting 18X11s on the track car I'm building. I am now gong to look for some 18X10s and 18X8s This gives me a whole lot of options. What is the best choice for a stock 911 wheel that will bolt on without adapters? What offsets?

I have 4 used Dunlop slicks 250/640-18 fronts and 285/680-18 that I will be looking to sell.
