Default HOW DO YOU KILL THE ALARM???

HELP!!

The alarm is OFF, yet I hitnk there is a short somewhere and it wants to keep going off intermittnely. I can't open the hood or doors to look as it will go off and only stop when it feels like it. The key or truniong it on does not turn it off.

I see no fuse or relay to kill the alarm. Is there a wire I can cut???

THE NEIGHBORS ARE GOING TO KILL ME!!

disconnecting the negative cable will turn the horn off. at least until you connect it back up. then it's a crap shoot.

pull the horn relay or horn fuse, that should get it quiet.

Pull the battery ground to temp kill it. Under the pass side of the dash is a black box the size of cigarette pack that you need to unplug. Jump pins 1 tp 4 and 7 to 8 to bypass it.

OK thanks.

Yea, I tried the horn fuse and relay. DID NOT work. Kinda shocked me.

Also, when I did start it to try to stop it; first time would not turn over. 2nd time did, but engine warning light stayed on, i.e. limp mode.

You know I'd rather the WHOLE WORLD NOT know how to disarm our alarms. Perhaps in the interest of not educating those with an inclination to steal our cars, you could answer Todd in a PM. Just a thought. Maybe it's just me but I'm a bit paranoid after Rolex's loss experience.

But since http://www.clarks-garage.com/ has it all spelled out too, I guess it doesn't make a difference. See "Alarm".

The stock alarm systems in these cars is a 20 year old design. They are noisemakers and not anti theft devices..

While I agree in part that it would be best if not everyone knew how to quickly disable the alarms in these cars, you should know that disabling a car alarm is not exactly a black art that only a few trained professionals know how to do - in other words, if a car thief really wants your car, he'll get it whether he reads this thread or not, and considering this is a technical board where others may have a similar problem, I think it might be helpful to other 944 owners who wish to get rid of this possible headache

Considering how many folks have had this exact problem, usually at the worst possible time (while trying to impress a date, while sitting in front of a cop at a donut shop, or at the track), it should really be information that is printed on a sticker inside the glove box. I agree that a little paranoia is not a bad thing, but lets not kid ourselves, 944's aren't the ultimate target for most car theives. lol

Well, I was hoping this was related to me washing the car and some water got in the car and caused a temp short. But who was I kidding

This morning I put the bat cable on and wass fine until I started to turn the key and hit tried to go off again.

I can't find the black box yo uare referencing. Is it down with the DME/KLR or higher up behind the glove box.

Also, do I have to jump the wires or can I just cut them? Or cut that whole box out?

OK, found the box. Says Hella? I guess as in horns

So is this the controller for the hors alone or alarm?

I see 2 plugs. One large and one small. I assume small plug is for pwr/grnd. Can I jsut got those or will that kill the horn altogether?

My old aftermarket alarm used to drive me nuts...I'd have to pull the battery cable everytime it decided to go off-- and everytime I worked on the car...
I put up with it for years because I was too lazy to pull it out (it was installed like an tangled octopus). Finally....
