I'm always amused at how many interior pics that are posted show the DME/KLR laying on the floorboard, thought I'd see what the true percentages are.
For the record, I'm a tucked into place with no screws kinda guy at the moment.

In a box in the basement, their home from now on except for a brief period coming up where they will lie on the floor to start and run my engine for the first while.

floor board, where they have been for a while, but once im finished hacking up my harness for the MAF and piggy back, and get a new set of MAF chips i'm looking for (PM me if you have a set), I'll tuck it in properly with hardware. I forgot how it goes though, and dont know what to do with the extra stuff.

Bolted up as they should be.
Why one earth Porsche moved them to that stupid location under the floorboard I'll never understand. The early cars (under the dash) make SO much more sense. At least your expensive computers don't risk taking a bath everytime it rains and it doesn't take the removal of 20 screws, bolts, etc. to get at 'em. . .
Like I said - chalk one up for the early cars. Why they ever relocated 'em I have no idea.

Everytime I think about bolting them back in place I come up with a reason why I might need access to them. EBC, WB O2, etc.

Mine are only in place because my prior project (MAF & boost gauge) was completed before my head gasket blew up. Now the head's off, but the 'puters are buttoned up tight... FOR NOW...

Passenger floor board right now, in case I need to do more tests to track down emission test problems. I'm pretty sure the new o2 sensor will fix it though as I only failed by 0.04 last time.

Everytime I put them in place and bolt them in, I have starting/stalling probs!! So they are on the floor where I can wiggle the connector pn the DME to start it sometimes.

Looks like we're about half and half if you combine all the various ways to not have them permanently mounted.
I have a funny feeling the Rennlist crowd has a significantly higher percentage of them unmounted than 'normal' 951 owners do!
