Yea, 270 rwhp with just chip set upgrade??... With the Turbo S, maybe if everything else is top notch and the chips are DEAD on. With my chip set upgrade, Tial 38mm WG, 3" testpipe and some other small things, I was putting down 243RWHP with 300RWTQ. Since then I put in a MAF and SMT-6, and I would say I am up at least 20RWHP in the top end with some tuning.

Ok, sorry I should have been more specific. 268 rwhp on my 88 Turbo S with 80K, Weltmeister Chips/Shim, LBE, LR Stage2 Intercooler, K&N Filter in stock airbox, and gutted Cats on stock exhaust. Oh, and I ran the car with the O2 sensor unplugged.

Anyway - my doctor (also friend) just got it. He likes to refer to my car as "old piece of ****" - then he laughs. The biggest nerd you've ever seen.
We were fooling around on the way to his house. He has driven my car, so he SNUCK up on me on the highway - I caught him an passed him. He didn't try again.
Street racing with your doctor? so that's why he makes you come for a monthly prostate exam .

I easily beat a chipped & modified exhaust M5 at WSIR. Not even close.

It will take at least somewhere around 380RWHP to take them down the straights with a full weight 951.

There was all that talk about 'slightly modded' 951s at 350hp keeping up with the M5 then ST has show up with his "hasn't been slightly modified since delivered" 450hp.

Can you imagine this on Speed TV's Pinks?

I think alot of you guys are just looking at peak numbers, not the area under the curve, to my knowledge the M5 makes alot of horsepower and torque for a large part of the powerband, the 951 is a lil peaky in comparison, given it would be a race and the 951 would be in the better half of its power band i still think it would be very difficult to beat a M5

To match it's power to weight ratio (curb weight for curb weight) you'd need a hair over 355hp to line up with one... and that's brake hp, or ~305whp.

I wouldn't doubt that a car pushing 305 to the tire would only match the M5, as our powerbands are fat with torque, and theirs... aren't. I think anything past this point would be a clear kill on a run fully through 3rd or 4th gear.

Either way, there's only one way to find out

...and either way, ANY M5 is badass. I hope to have an E39 in my stable in 4-5 years.
the new m5 weighs what 4000lbs? and puts down 440-450rwhp. The new transmissions shift devistatingly fast. There is literally no lag in power ever. They pull like beasts on the road from a roll down.

If you think a 320rwhp 951 could beat one i'd be happy to supply the new m5 for the test. I got a friend thats got one. Im sorry i dont see it. At 320rwhp the m5 is making 130 more whp.

Let me find the race video between the 996 turbo vs the new m6 and m5. You guys are in lala land if you think a 951 with bolt ons is anywhere near it in straightline performance.

with my air/fuel dialed in before the turbo got old i was prolly in the 310-320 range in all honesty. There is no way my car would hang with chris's from a roll. I've been in it and i've been in it while it was destorying something else.

I swear every new thread with 951 vs the world keeps getting older and older.

You got a enzo!!! well that aint **** I have have my 951 with xxxxxxxxxxxxx mods making xxxxxxxxxx hp with weight reduction and i can pull you.

seriously, who cares...we're talking apples to dumptrucks here....20 year time difference plus one car that would be modded to hell vs a stock car...there is no real comparison here

the new m5 has a very broad powerband by comparison to a 951. It makes tons more tq down low where it a street race it really counts and pulls up top just nicely peaking power in the revs.

you guys are nuts. I say lets just compare the 951 to a fighter jet...wada say...someone on this board would be up for it.

10000000% agree

Go to google videos, search for the M6 vs 911TT....it creams it from a stand still with launch control AND loads of smoking tires. But then again, it is 500Bhp vs 420Bhp.....

I test drove for BMW and the m5 have slow pick up but very nice top speed they are heavy. A 951 will have no problem takeing care of a m5. Of course and modded 951
