Tire quality, road quality (including moisture), and LSD/non-LSD make all the difference. Without LSD, on old dry tires, my tires used to spin like the teacup ride at Dinseyland -- dangerous actually in wet whether. New RE730's helped hugely -- now I can only spin in 3rd if it's wet -- last dyno'd at 347rwhp.

Is everyone talking about spining the tires when they are shifting from 2nd to 3rd or are we refering to a 3rd gear pull when the boost gets going?

Sorry, I'm in Northern Cal. And, I haven't had any time to even get to my own projects done these days... (It's easy to have spare time or money, but hard to have both.) Besides, you don't want me working on your car -- everytime I do something to my car, it takes a month and costs more than anyone could justify. Happy to backseat drive from here though.

I'm running 330hp/330tq on 17" RE-730 245's and can't spin them in 3rd. I'll haze them in 2nd on a warm day, but won't spin enough to get too crazy.

Just a guess, I'd think you'd need 375-400hp to roast a set of 245's in 3rd.

If you need technical advice, Jeremy Himsel is fantastic with 951's. He has resurrected a few that were destined for the boneyard (one being mine), designed an awesome set of fuel lines, and is currently finishing a nasty lil setup for me

Yes, no doubt that Jerremy is an extremely able mechanic. Unfortunately, he is motivated by an alternative lifestyle - and as handsome as Lart is, Jeremy would quickly be keen to violate him.

Luis, why not try setting up a clutch GTG? Plenty of wrenchers in the LA area.

That will be so cool, big BBQ , but if that can not be arrange I don't mind paying as long as the person doing it the job knows our cars, that's my main concern.

Jim, there is a guy on the 951 vs 928 thread that claims that his 928 is fatter than most of the 951's, do you agree with that statement?

With a Stock 951!
This is not a bit a strech of the truth

When I was in Oaklahoma I was at a stop light at CACHE Rd. A car beside me would not leave me alone. It ticked me off.

Well,
I jumped coming off the line and spun the tires 1,2, and 3 gear till I let off. Yes, mashed it in 1st, banged it into 2nd with a mash, then 3rd with a mash and thejust let off it. my car was in a cloud of tire smoke.

I do not recommend this and will not do it again.

At what level does it get fishy at 80 with 245's on the back?
Only below sea level.

Mine 928 has the LSD option and only slightly spins during up shifting to 3rd. In the winter months a boosted car will have a lot more hp, the tires will be colder, and the road surface temps will be low too. The combination of all these factors can make a high hp car act differenctly than during the other 3 seasons.
