It is my understanding that it should, but I'm not sure. Does anyone else have any experience in upgrading ?

Default Hmmmm,

I'm interested if I knew this fit the 86 951 properly. I am new to the 951 and not willing to take a chance.

Looking at the maintence manual section 39-122b and 39-6 it appears the diferential and the LSD are interchangable. However in the pages between it appears that if you were to swap out the units there is a pretty complicated procedure to to make sure that it is alligned. This would be beyond my capabilities.

The problem with this diff. is that he doesn't know if it's from a turbo or not. If it is from a regular 944 or 944s then it isn't strong enough for the 951. If it can be confirmed that it is from a turbo or an S2, then you are good to go. I haven't been able to confirm that it's from a turbo though.

35:9 ring & pinion = 3.889 ratio = 944 NA. You should able to swap the ring gear off however.

Do we know what model it's from? And if it is from an N/A, is the unit not as strong as the Turbo or S2?

Thanks

Would the part number reference tell us if it was from a turbo or not?

Probably a meaningless OEM number (ZF made the LSDs for Porsche), its definitely not a Porsche Part number.

944 LSDs = 944 332 053 00

951 LSDs = 951 332 053 03 and 05 (Turbo S)

From the tooth count and size of the pinion and ring gear (like M758 mentions above), indicate that it is absolutely from a 944 n/a. 35/9 = 3.889.

Turbo's (27/8 = 3.375) and S2's (31/8 = 3.875) have different tooth counts and larger ring and pinion gears.
