Copper head gaskets don't blow/get damaged, which technically should be good.

However, if you have a problem (running too lean) the headgasket will not blow, instead it would fuse the cylinder head and block together.

I'd rather blow headgaskets than have a fused head & block.

I don't know anything about this personally, but, have always found it interesting, that...

Powerhaus- in a 1997 EC article entitled "Overacheiver" about the 951, back when Cervelli was with them still- Cervelli & Raines both said NOT to use copper HG's, but did not say why...

Several years later, in fall of 2000, I took my car to St Louis to have Garrity Repta do some work on it- This was shortly after Rob Langley had his 3.0L built by Garrity. Well, many here know how that turned out- Rob went through either 4 or 5 total HG's- he was getting his *** kicked in the 3.0L by a 2.5L friend running 25lbs of boost who NEVER lost a HG in 3yrs time... Anyway, from what I was told by Rob, Garrity was using copper HG's.. might have had nothing to do w/it- as it turns out, they think the prob had more to do w/pistons, but wtf knows...?

Anyway, I would not use copper, unless a bunch of guys here started making a case for them... but that's just me...

Yes, that's Rob Langley's beast, the very one I was talking about. I haven't seen that site in a long time- thanks for the link. He eventually had Garrity rebuild another block w/stock bore for a total 2.8L instead of the 3.0L & sold it- always wondered who bought it & how it turned out...
