Default Upgrading the clutch

I am ordering a Kep stage 2 PP. I know some of you are using a 6 button copper ceramic. There are lots of 911 rsr cars that use 6 button bronze clutches. I have found a good source for them. Just wondering if anybody has used the bronze sprung or unsprung with good success?

Talked with Clutchnet. There is a new owner. He was asking me to engineer my own clutch. I was let down. I don't trust them.

Asking you to engineer your own clutch? What does that mean? You can't just order the same thing as ST?

There is a part# on there web site for the clutch ST has. I referenced that part# when I spoke with the owner. He is the new owner of the company. He doesn't even know what he is selling. His lack of knowledge was unexpected. Thats what turned me away. Try giving them a call just for laugh's.

Sounds like that biz purchase was a bit of an "oops".

Maybe you should just stick to the 930 or Cup clutch. What kind of power goals do you have?

Jimbo, did you ever locate a Ceramic Bronze clutch disc at all. If so I would be very interested in knowing where you got it as I am in the midst of a clutch R&R currently. Thanks!

Default Upgrade v's Standard?

I hope to get more of a reply than I got with my first question on a different thread.(0)
I am an new owner of an '89 951 and am looking at doing some mods of course. My mechanic has suggested doing the clutch but sticking w the factory model. I know this is probably laughed at on sites like this but you guys have so much more stuff at way cheaper prices than us down under. So anyway how much difference do these aftermarket clutches make and how much of a bitch are they to drive around town. At this stage I'm not looking at building power over 400 ponies. Is it worth changing. By the way to get the clutch replaced I have been quoted around $3000 Aussie so you guys should thank your luckies!

I hate recommending a product that I haven't tried yet. If you would like to wait 2 to 3 weeks I can give you some feedback. I am purchasing a kep stage 2 with a bronze 6 puck unsprung. Here is the link. http://www.patrickmotorsports.com/cg...ES&cat2=&cat3=
When calling ask for jim. Also look under WWW.horsepowerfreaks.com Under clutches, Bronze for a description of the material.

333,

There have been several good threads on this lately. As for actual experience - I have been using a KEP stage II with a "Cup" disc for the last 4 years and it has been great. My car makes 380 tq to the ground. The clutch never slipped or chattered. Several people here are using a similar setup. I believe I have finally torn the center out of it (still dissecting). I could go with another Cup, but am hoping for somthing that might save me a few bucks.

I have a KEP 2 and "cup" disk.

No problems, great clutch easy to drive every day. But it does get tiring in stop and go since it is a bit heavier than stock.
