MAF versus MAP
#16
A lot depends on your goals with the car, too. I agree that standalone offers a higher performance ceiling, but for my purposes, MAF works just fine and is easier and less expensive. My goals are modest tho, as I have no intentions of going past 300rwhp. I want reliability and useable hp on the track and my driving skills wouldn't support more power.

Electromotive TEC-3 and possibly the new Generation-2 Link setup. Nothing definite yet, but I figure since I'm doing all these other upgrades, it's something to consider. . .

And yes Motronic is a great system as Porsche continues to use it on everything from Boxters to GT2s.
I just don't have a way of easly tuning it and the Motec M4 was FREE so there ya go

My car is way different from a stock 951S configuration. Since I installed the setup from Dave, I'm now running sequential injection and just about to add coil-on-plug sequential.
To go sequential injection I've added a cam chopper disc and to go sequential ignition I'm changing the single channel J&S as supplied in Dave's version to a 4 channel version and an MSD DIS-4 to ignite the coils.
The Wolf will certainly give you a lot of options, but to get the best you will have to work at it.
I also think that most people using the LR setup will be installing it in to 951's that already have other modifications to get the best from those modifications. For example it has MAP built in, so you would probably want to get rid of the AFM to clear the inlet tract to the turbo .... As more people start using it there will be a wider range of 'base maps' available.

I second Chris White and his terrific support with the Electromotive products. He has helped me immensely with my TEC2 turning and I did not even buy the thing from him (came with car...but it was also dumpimg fuel every revolution like a 2-cycle amongst many other probs). Jeff if you go the Electromotive route, I will be happy to share what parameters/maps I have.

Though I have not gone standalone but will do in the
coming months, it is my opinion after studying a number
of standalone, I've come to the conclusion that the HKS
Fcon V pro is one of the best if not the best out there.
Why, cause I had the opportunity to drive a couple of
Scoobies fitted with different ECU's & the HKS unit
comes up tops in terms of drivability especially on
highly modified engines. Yes alot still depends on
the mapping but the resolution of the Fcon is really
second to none Motec included really really sharp
throttle response with very little turbo lag
