Default Is it possible to install a new down pipe without removing the turbo?

My plans include a 3" down pipe purchase but before I tear into the car again I want to know can this pipe be installed with the turbo in place (is there space to remove the bolts) Or must the turbo be removed?

I bet it's possible if you have that special type of hand where the fingers have the option to be removed. Very rare type of hand found in the northern states. If not them probably not possible.

I don't think there's anyway you could get to the back couple bolts where the downpipe mates to the turbo.

Only other option would be to cout out as much as possible and weld in 3 inch.

i think i have actually done this before with my dad and it wasn't an easy task. It would have been easier just to pull the turbo but at the time my dad didn't know and he found a way to get it off. But i know for sure there is no way to install a 3" downpipe after because that is making it even more tight of a fit.

Just wait till you upgrade turbos, no need for the 3" downpipe till then.

If you have a 3" exhaust, and want to use a 3" downpipe, I'd say it's worth it -- even with the stock turbo. Otherwise, why would there be a benefit of getting a 3" exhaust?

"Otherwise, why would there be a benefit of getting a 3" exhaust?"

There is more to exhaust than just size. A small downpipe to big exhaust could even be better in some cases, it is good to have increasing cross section. I forget if anyone posted dyno proof that the 3" to 3" exhaust is officially better, but even if it is, there will be a huge benefit with just the exhaust.
