Default Front Wheel Bearings are hard, need helpy.

Ok well the yellow car needs front wheel bearings bad. I started to do them today, and I got the grease cap, rotor, and the axle bolt or whatever off, but the damn hub and rotor wont come off!

I followed clarks garage's guide and hes like "pull the hub and rotor off as a unit", well I must be missing something because that thing was on there tighter than a nuns !@#$%!

I cant get the hub and rotor off! Is there something im missing, or is it just hard to pull off because its a rusty 20 year old car?

Make sure that the washer is off and just yank on it a bunch of times

Are you doing this on the 86? Did you remove the washer?

its an 84. It looks like there is a washer, it could also be the part of the inner bearing. Do you have to twist the washer to get it off? I tried prying at it gently, but it didnt want to move?

There is a washer on the 84, just checked PET. The washer might be twisted. You might want to think about putting the clamping nut back on and tighten it up to try and get the washer in alignment. It should just slip off if all is right. You may have jammed it when you tried to pry off the hub.

The washer may be cocked and is catching on the spindle threads. The washer has a "tang" that fits into a slot that is cut into the spindle. If the washer is cocked it will catch on the threads and you will not be able to remove the hub and rotor.

Clean everything off REAL good and take some GOOD pictures. Maybe someone will be able to spot what is happening.

In the mean time, try working a couple of flat tip screw drivers between the hub and the washer and then try to "Walk" the washer off of the spindle....

Holy crap you definitely need those bearings too....

I had to wrap on my rotors, alternating sides a few times with a mallet to get it started.

Ive pulled like hell. Pulled till I thought the car was gonna come off the jackstands.

I then also put the wheel back on and pulled like hell.

No off coming.

A little history on the car here. The rear wheel bearings both went kaboom, and when we were replacing them it looked like somebody had already replaced them and not put the seal in correctly.

Could it be someone replaced the front ones too and did something horribly ridiculous to keep them on there?

Could it also be that everythings rusted together or something. I had to use incredible hulk strength to get the caliper bolts loose...?
