Default Which MAF to go with?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get some opinions on what the best bang for the buck MAF to get. My setup so far includes:

- K27/6 turbo
- 55lb injectors
- 38 mm Tial waste gate
- 2.5" Catbypass with 3" SFR exhaust
- K26/6 Guru chips & 3 bar fpr
- black **** mbc

This is for a dedicated track car and I am looking to run 15-16 psi boost on pump gas. Reliability is more important than squeezing out that last couple hp. Money is an issue and the most I would spend is $1250 - the less the better.

The options as I see it are:

1. Vitesse MAF - $1250 -
2. Lindsey MAF/Powerperfect - $900
3. Lindsey MAF/Mafterburner - $1,100

I know the Vitesse unit is a big Rennlist favorite but it's also the most expensive and the SMT6 piggyback controller option is way over my budget. The Lindsey Powerperfect setup is attractive based on the price. I guess one of the big questions is - am I better of going with a MAF with a chip designed specificaly for my setup with little tuneability or a MAF with the piggyback and my existing Guru chip that I use to dial things in for my specific setup. Seems like the Mafterburner gives more flexibility for less money, and I am concerned about the Vitesse setup being able to hit the mark with a one time burn of a chip - and if it doesn't having to send the chip back for modification, and the redyno which equate to more $$$.

Any input would be appreciated.

With an already modified car with bigger injectors, I think you are better off getting something that can be fine-tuned. It just seems unlikely you'd get chips that work well on the first try.

temp compensation is the issue with AFM chips & piggyback. If you flatten out the on-chip temp compensation table then you have a balanced solution.

This might be worth taking a look at.

Skip I've got a Huntley stage 4 that comes with the air inlet temp sensor. It's on Ebay right now, but I would take it off for $400. You would need to then get a fuel controller. Mafterburner of Spit second would work fine. Let me know.

Thanks for the offer Kevin. I think the stage 4 Huntley would be a bit bigger than I need so I will pass.

Thanks again,

I was running it with my t04b and worked out pretty good with the mafterburner software. Huntley sold this maf with this turbo. I don't think your turbo is much smaller then the b. Let me know if you change yourmind.
