Do not make the mistake thinking your chipped 944 will eat a 2003 M3 e46.

car and driver http://www.caranddriver.com/article....rticle_id=4227 tested a 0-60 in 4.5 sec and quarter-mile of 13.1 seconds. As we know by the posting of members here running the quarter-mile, trying to get the 13sec marks requires some serious mods.

I havent run a E46 although 2-3 E36's. The best one was last summer - nice, clean M3 coupe pulls up next to me at a redlight, we both are at the front of the pack admiring each others red cars. We both hit it when it flashes green and immeaditely after I launch my intercooler pipe blows off with a loud bang - car rolls across intersection dead and I pull into empty lot to pop the hood and retighten clamp. lol - Im sure it was funny to watch, all I could do was laugh.

I don't think a stock chipped 951 will beat a e46 m. It will be close but the e46 should pull on it. My brotherinlaw owns one and lets me occasionally blast around in it. They are pretty fast. His is chipped and has a full header back Super sprint exhaust.

Done that several times when the car was chipped (weltmiester) and running 15psi. It is not about the mods, it is how the car (either M3 or 951, mainly 951) is launched.

It is the turbocharged E36 M3's that you should worry about when it comes to acceleration (especially their 100-200kpr), THOSE are fast.

I drove an m3, it a was a really greenish yellow color, and it was a manual BUT it didnt have a clutch. It was kind of weird, but fast none the less.

Yes, that was a fully stock car.

Chips came on next (weltmiester), then came a turbo, eManage, injectors.....

Said it before and i will say it again, a chipped 951 will beat a stock '05 M3 from a stand still!

umm yes a chipped 951 will pull a e46m3 from a roll. From a stop many porsche owners arent good enough at launching. A chipped 951 is all over a mid 13 with a solid trap speed.

I trapped 99mph stock a well vitesse chipped good running 951 should trap 105-107mph. The e46s despite what they say there normally trap in the 103-105 range. and normally run a high 13. Ofcourse its all about driver but, up top the 951 pulls much stronger than the e46.

I have raced several of them. 1 after my mods and 2 when I was bone stock except for LBE running 13psi. I pulled both e46's I ran.

In a dog fight between a clean well chipped 951 and a stock e46.....i'll take the 951

As an M3 owner, I want to emphasize the difference between the fastest E46M3 - 6spd hardtop 13.3 1/4 mile, and a cabriolet SMG E46M3 14.0 1/4 mile. Two completely different performance categories.

My highly modded N/A E36M3 (2900lbs, 260rwhp) turned a 13.7 on a G-tech. I ran a 14.4 the same hour same road in my 86 951 when it had the LBE and Autothority chips at 15# boost (250 rwhp) and a slipping clutch. The 951 had a higher trap speed though! So yes, I think a chipped 951 will be in the ball park of an E46M3, so long as it is not a manual hardtop.

haha, that's kind of cool. Yeah, when you must have seen us I had let up. I had too because the shocks in my car are horrible and anytime I hit a bump at those speeds I bottom out a little bit, so I had to cut it back once I'd pulled him, but the guy just kept trying to show off. It was kind of funny. I'm like, dude, I just beat you twice.. but oh well. maybe he was just in a hurry

Come Friday, I'll be able to walk away and not look back if I see him again since my new suspension will be on

My chipped with an LBE 951 (otherwise stock) def. wouldn't hang with an e46...neither from a dig or a roll...maybe when i do exhaust/ i'd have a chance.

since the M3 you were racing was brand new (you say no plates) its possible he was holding back since his engine may not have been broken in yet. My friend has an M3 and the dealership warned him to stay under a certain RPM until after the break in period after which he had to bring the car to the dealership for service and then after this he was free to redline as he pleased.

These new M3s are not slow.......and it should not be easy to walk them at all.

Anyway my friend and I are going to race eachother just as soon as everything on my car is working right (could be a while). I will post the results afterward.
