Okay, Jason can't do it, but I will. I think your guy is completely full of crap. Jason knows his sh$t. Something else is at work here. You need to find a shop that knows our specific cars, and get this taken care of for good. just my .02

Take it elsewhere. I can't fathom standard 944 inserts fitting inside of the koni coilover strut units.
Otherwise, some pics of them disassembled would be nice for verification.

Bah! Dude, you crazy mexican foo', you can have the strut assembly apart in like an hour, maybe two if you are overly cautious. Just scribe the camber setting. It won't F the car up that bad in the week you would have to wait for a replacement of what you have to fix it with to put it back togther with a semi-jacked up camber setting. Worst case scenario you are a few tenths of a degree too negative or postive.

Just take the strut apart yourself and see what is up. Honestly, it takes not that long. I promise.

hmmmmm.......

sorry to leave anyone hanging.

how much are inserts from paragon, 150 a piece?
you can take the coilover collars off the strut and put it on another set of konis if thats what your worried about.they just slide of the strut housing.btw,i thought 86' 951s didnt come with rebuildable struts?i thought they were pre-86?btw,is there a bolt under your strut.(just to make sure you got rebuildable struts)

You know you like it.

Juan, you can just start taking it apart. Honestly. There are 4 bolts at the top, and two bolts (one of which is the eccentric that controls the camber setting) that connect it to the steering knuckle.

You can rent a spring compressor from NAPA or whatever, but the coil-over might not need to be compressed to come of.

Damnit Lart. How did you get a picture of my car. That was top secret. I was going to sell it to the 951 crowd for $1,000,000.

Juan,
I've got both the rod-type and clam shell spring compressors if you need to borrow them. I'm at home today...catch me before I'm drunk though!
