Default Coolant Leak, from where?

I discovered a slight leak of what appears to be coolant (slightly green thin fluid) between the clutch bellhousing and the rear of the engine. I looked at the heater hoses and the parts I could see looked to be in excellent shape and completely dry. Where is the coolant coming from? Could this be a blown headgasket? Any advice would be appreciated.

Could be from the neck that one of the coolant hoses connects too. Youll have to take the intake manifold off to get at it.

When the heater control valve fails, it won't appear to be broken until you pull it (because it's just two pieces of plastic glued together).

The only real way to tell is to find the source of the leak. An telescoping extension mirror and a flashlight will let you see the entire hear to block seal. Its a bear, but take your time and you can wiggle the mirror around to see it all. You will isolate the leak that way.

Take a good look around the heater valve assy. They are notorious for leaks. The good news is that removing the intake manifold is all you need to do to get good access to that area. I managed to replace the heater block-off plate upside-down during my rebuild. It leaked badly. Easy fix.

Check the coolant lines for the heater control valve. I had the same problem and just could not find the leak. Turned out to be the coolant line from this valve had a small enough pinhole that it was barely noticeable.

You need to fix this fast! If coolant gets into the clutch you are in for major $$$$$.

Yea - the glycol in coolant eats the throwout bearing supposedly.
