Remember when buying "rebuilt" control arms, most rebuilders are still machining out the pockets and pressing in aftermarket ball joints. This thins the aluminum around the ball joint and causes a weak spot in the arm.
When you rebuild the arms yourself using a kit, it is returned to OEM spec and the arms are not weakened.
