I'm thinking that if the ceramic is that brittle, the pices are probably quite small when they start to break apart, they probably turn to dust when the hit the impeller wheel. In turbine engines it's amazing the damage to the fins that can occur with out much change in power output. So I'm sure there's some damage, but not much.

I know of 951's who run ported exhausts...without problems. And that's 951 heads,not 944's. Problem doesn't appear before the thing stats flaking... I wouldn't do it,but I know of people that does. Anyone know if the ceramic tube is the same thickness all the way through?
