Jim,
Can I ask where you get your rotors? The dealers near me are much more than $100 for OE M030 rotors...

Thom,

Thanks for clarification. Since everyone was talking about street cars, I assumed you were referring to the French version of the Turbo S street car - "Turbo Cup", not the race car. The race car front rotor is not a standard dealer stocked item in the US and would likely have to be purchased through Porsche Motorsport North America. Although the last time I spoke with the Parts Director at PMNA, she said they do not and never have handled any 944 Club Sport/Motorsport parts (all the US Turbo Cup/Escort cars were imported through Al Holbert who handled the Porsche Motorsport activities in the late 80's).

Jerome,

Ive used various mail order dealers out of Excellence that advertize discounts. I know Sunset has a great reputation for good pricing, but I have not tried them. I have used Hennessey Porsche out of Atlanta (Kenn Young is the parts mngr) quite a bit. I recall the last set of factory Turbo S rotors I bought were right around $100. They were actually cheaper than my standard 87T rotors by a couple bucks each. But this was a couple years ago, and I cannot say for certain that prices have not increased since then.

Thanks Jim,
The last pair of fronts I bought from a local dealer were about $144 each. I'll try contacting some of the others from Excellence. A friend bought rotors for his standard turbo through Sunset at a good price but had to wait several weeks to get them.

Evan, as a clarification, the rotors that Paragon and other aftermarket retailers sell are not OE. They may be OEM but are not to the same specs as the rotors you would buy from a dealership. OE rotors (usually Zimmermans) don't stand up to track abuse nearly as well as the OE ones, either.

I'll have to try OE rotors next time, but the Zimmerman rotors I got have been holding up just fine for combined street and track use. They've got about 15K street miles and 4 track days (with race pads) on them and show no signs of wearing out any time soon.

Zimmermans may be the way to go for combined street/track driving. Rotors will usually heat crack and have to be thrown away before they wear out if used heavily on the track. I've found (and so have others) that the OE rotors tend to resist heat cracking better than the Zimmermans and last longer before having to be tossed.
