Default Rear Coilover - Torsion Bar Reindex?

Has anyone had any luck with installing Paragon's rear coilover shocks with 100# helper springs and NOT having to reindex the torsion bars?

What about the 80# springs? Has anyone had luck NOT having to reindex the torsion bars with 80# springs?

It could be possible, It depends on ride height and if the eccentric nut is adjusted.. If you are going to lower the car and the eccentric has been adjusted down. Then you have to reindex. Actually I would say you have to reindex anyway.. so that the helper spring and torsion bars are under equal load .
.

The helper spring will raise the car 1,5 –2”

I am retaining the stock ride height and the eccentric is at the highest point currently. How much ride height adjustment is possible with the eccentric bolt? (ie: 1", 2")

Actually the ride height might be lowered by a 1/4 inch. I am using the 200# Weltmeister springs and the spacers, so I estimate a 1/4 inch drop from the stock setting.

If eccentric is at the highest point : 1 - 1,5" maximum.. IIRC

I would advise you to reindex though ... been there done that

And get the car balanced again ( corner weight)

Minimum 8 hrs labor if they get it right the 1st time. I did it myself, just did 1 splines on the inside end so there was no room for error. I knew I wanted 2.5 inch drop and 1 spline gave that. Check clarks-garage for procedure.

First time I took it over the weekend the other times 6-10hrs work maybe.. Depends on how hard it is to get the old one out..
Even with a 80lbs helper spring I’d had to reindex to get the corner weight right, and one thing said.. to get the car properly balanced and good wheel settings are one of the best mods you’ll do..

All my cars where lowerd ~ 1,2"

Re-indexing will make your suspension work correctly.

wow,1 spline inside gave you that much of a difference!can you get us a pix of what your car looks like with a 2.5" drop in the rear?now that you think of it,all rears of the 944/968 is really high,so a 2.5" drop would just remove the fender gap.

I could not be bothered with reindexing the bar, I completely removed the bar and run on the coils only.
I have not had any problems and corner balancing is a sinch.

I dont want to contradict anyone about dealer times to reindex, but very few dealers still have people that are used to working on these cars.
I doubt that they could do it in a day, and at those labour rates....

the springs will cost you about the same wether they are 100# or 450#
maybe im just lazy, but why go thru all that work and headache when you can get thesame results and no more problems further down the line.

Phil ,when removing the t-bar then you are looking on a different shock to fit in the rear. The 968cs konis have a spring perch that is non adjustable and with a to short spring rate
To use as a standalone. It is not designed to carry all the weight either.
Other than that I would agree, spending some more $$$ on a real coilover is worth it.
And when going full coilover, the corner balancing is a piece of cake.
