Default HELP: tranny grinding in 3rd

Problem: Everytime I go into 3rd gear it makes a quick grinding sound like the clutch isnt in all the way. It only happens going into 3rd.

I have a little Bit of tranny noise when the cars at idle and sometimes it grinds when downshifting into 1st when the cars not warmed up.

Im not a mechanic by any means and my novice thoughts were that it needs tranny oil.

What do you guys think? Anyone have experience with this before?

Your 3rd gear synchro is most likely shot. It will only get worse....

You might try changing your oil with Mobil or Redline but most likely your going to need to pull the tranny and change synchro's.

My 3rd gear synchro is totally gone but I swapped to the spare tranny.

If you don't do the work by your self it's quite expensive I have an alternative for you;

I have a tranny from a 1986 turbo with the oil cooler with only 106k miles. If you come and pick it up the price is $ 550.00 I am only 1 hour away from San Diego.

Let me know if you are interested

The tranny that I am selling you it's open differential. It was removed from my car when I installed the LSD tranny.

Darnit, I think it is the synchro. I have to double clutch it to shift into 3rd to keep it from grinding. Doesnt that mean its the synchro?
