Even though a larger hotside would flow better at higher rpms, it don't think that having anymore lag than the stock setup would be beneficial for track use. You have to remember that just because you are using your car on the track, you're not in the high rpms all the time. There are plenty of turns on many tracks which require low end power. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that turbo cars are slower than NA cars coming out of the turn because you have to wait for the power and torque while NA cars have it as soon as they step on the gas. And this also requires a different line for turbo cars with a big turbo because of the extra lag you get. You have to turn in later and harder to allow for more trackout when the turbo hits. If your line was more geometric, the throttle oversteer would make you spin all day long.

Which would produce a faster lap time: going through the turn faster and putting the power down earlier, or having a big *** turbo to pull you down the straight? Who knows. But the more I track my car, the more I want an NA so that I have instant power, which I think would be more fun. My next track car will be NA, but for the meantime my solution will be to use a ball bearing turbo that spools faster than stock, while only slighty increasing the hotside, if at all.

Ok it's getting close for me to make a turbo decision now I'll skip the 27/10.

Can anyone help me decide between the Speedforceracing's Stage 2 turbo and the lindsey racing super ones (super 75 or 65 or something). Are they more or less the same?

As you probably understand my budget for a turbo is around $1000 and these two seems to be the best choices in that category if you think of ease of installation and stuff like that. Gaah! I hate making decisions

I've searched the archives but haven't found anything to help me in my decision.

I would go with the Super 75/10. 479rwhp @23psi on a 2.5L. They are reliable too, probably streetable.

It will reach full boost late though, definately past 3,500rpms

Eh, the 75 really is to big for a 2.5L. I'd rather run something a touch smaller than that for street use.

What about a 75 8sqcm housing? How fast do they spool?

A #10 monkey will lag considerably more than a #8 monkey though.

Of course a #6 monkey will only be "in heat" all the time trying to make all that power.

A #8 is probably ideal for most applications.

A #8 Monkey has less high end pull than a #10 Monkey right?

Buy the 27/10 and have someone put your #6 turbine on it. You will get about 300-320 rwhp with boost hitting about 2700 rpms. The K27/10 was on the 93-94 964 turbos.

eclou: Placing a #6 blade in a #10 housing would be a bad mix, the small blade would not be able to keep up with the demands of the #10 hotside. Spool will be reduced though, since the housing is big and (dont know, never tried it nor know anyone who did this) but it will run out of steam and boost will drop at upper rpm range.

Thanks for your help guys! Doesn't anyone have anything to say about the sfr stage 2 turbo? Is it comparable to lindsey's super 75 turbo? I'm ordering some stuff from sfr now so that's why I want to know if I should buy the turbo from them at the same time or if I should wait and buy the lindsey one.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what type of the super 75 is preferable for my "mostly track, some street" car?
T4 or regular? (T4 requires special downpipe - that's no problem)
water or oil cooled? (water is a lot easier for the install, right?)
0.68 or 0.58 turbine housing?
T-350 Stage 5 or "P" Trim?

I would not use the T4 hotside in this application. Too big.
Getting a large turbo suitable for top end power while not adressing everything else is not the best thing to do. Your car will probably be faster with a bit smaller turbo than a Super 75 T4.

What's the things I should be addressing before going for a super 75 then? 2,8 l engine and stuff? I'll get the tial, 3" exhaust, MAF etc this winter.. but maybe that's not enough?
