Well, stopped by my mech. shop last night and he informed me one of his customers, havn't met him or know if he is on rennlist, but he said it is getting ready for a turbo conversion.

Going to run 968 Turbo pistons.

Kewl. Keep us posted. Does your mech have a web site? I wonder if he will build something similar to Powerhaus or Anderson? Both of them were featured in Excellence at one time, I have the issue.

Default 968 turbo

did you stop by Redbone's garage? Is the motor done yet? The pistons can be bought from Heritage Motor works out of Brandon Florida, you dont need to sleeve your block for these to work.

Robyn was saying he is going to use stock computer and only tune with adj. fuel pressure reg.

Not sure how fine tuned that will get it. Was telling him to consider piggy back or stand alone but he is always more for the stock parts being able to handle it.

He has also told me you can put in bigger injectors without any adjustments as the DME will adjust on it's own. Told him he will have top prove that one for me

Todd, take a video camera for the first time he pushes it. Actually, a real-time borescope would be fun too.

Default adj fuel regulator?

He must be using a burned chip from heritage motorworks, since he is going to keep the stock harness and such, using their chip set up will enable the variocam to be used also. I was going to go this route, but seven years ago, no one was doing it, so I went with the 944 turbo s harness and such.

Yea, everyone seems to end up there hanging out and drinking a few beers there on Fridays.

I will stop by after work also, so about 5:30-6 I guess.

Now there will be someone else there besids me to confirm what kind of numbers 951's are making now adays. As Robin is a real "Porsche did that for a reason so why change it"

I get talking about more boost, MAF/MAP, water injection etc. and he kind of cringes

I posted this before, but he told me his old partner Dave (Bones) not sure if you ever met him, used to run his 951 with just bigger injectors and like 30psi, no WG, no chips, no pigy back. He said the DME adjusted for it and they even ran it on the track.'

Of course, the flames started pouring in

Talking I'm the guy Robin was building the 968 turbo for...

5 years later ....Robin wasn't successful building the 968 3.0L 16v powerplant...on the day of final delivery the mechanic threw a rod on a hot lap...they tried rising rate fuel pressure regulator ..larger injectors from powerhaus and a chip from powerhaus ....he made me pay for the parts on the second motor and ate the labor...that one took another 9 months to build and only lasted about 2000 mile and the that threw a rod (pauter) JE piston w/coatings....first motor had Mahle pistons and stock rods..

Third motor is being built by Jason at Heritage Motor Car...3.6L crank Mahle 968 turbo pistons and HMR rods....Motec interfacing to stock harness....

Oh, This is being built for my Girlfriend.....Robin swore it be done for her 35th birthday....

Jason should do a good job. He has built quite a few of these to my knowledge. He may still be using the motronic tuning which is probably a downside. You might consider getting it delivered and functioning and try to get somebody that is good with stand-a-lones to really squeeze the juice out anything jason builds.

I am a fellow gator like Jason and from C-water btw.

Edit: sounds like jason has moved to motec, so...you are good.
