Ok, glad you followed up on this.
I loved redbone and Robin, etc. but they were not much into the new world tuning. He liked to keep it all old school and factory true and with a project like that you need dead on custom a/f, timing control etc.
I re read my initial post on this and that was a major reason for posting as how is he expecting this to tune and last with just a rising rate FPR???? I know the domestic muscle cars do it on Horsepower TV , etc. but I know with our cars a slight fuel issue and BOOM. As you found out unfortunately.
Nice to hear it is still being completed.

3.6L crank???
I love how they break the motor on a 'hot lap' and you pay for the parts. Nice of him to spring for the labour!!

951 turbo cab built to the owners request way beyond factory specs knowing the risks that exist.
extreme mods are risky.
Remember, believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see.........
a 600 + HP 4 cyl. motor is a risky endeavor to ask anyone to do.
The crew at REDBONE has forgotten more than we will ever know about PORSCHE'S
Just a passing comment

I couldn't agree more. I find it interesting that "968cabturbo" only has three posts and he jumps into this post 5 years later only to bad mouth Redbone. I spent quite a bit of time at Redbone and found Robin, Mike, Curt, and Andy extremely knowledgeable of Porsche's.

hate to resurrect an old thread... but I'm looking at a 87 924s that has a motor rebuilt by redbone... we all know that if it's on the internet it must be true
I see good and bad here...
So what' the deal with redbone ?
This car is built to race and that's what we plan to do with it, strictly a track car...
I'm leaning towards a good guy who took a project not really in his realm ?
The 924s looks to be just a rebuild not a Frankenstein creation so guessing we should be ok...
would love to hear some recent experiences.
Thanks
Mike
