Default Lindsey 340 package

Hello everyone,
I'm new to the 951 world but an old SCCA racer. I'm picking up a 86 951 to convert to a racecar. There looks to be a lot available to boost HP/TQ on these cars but I don't have any personal experience so I hope to tap into the group here for help.
Has anyone had experience with the Lindsey 340 engine package? Are the claimed numbers realistic? How is the power curve?
This looks like it's going to be a very fun project.

Thank you

What kind of racing? Autox? Roadcourse? Also, what modifications do the rules in whatever series you are planning on running in allow?

I have pcs of the early 340 kit on my street car which is detuned to about 318/322 respectively. The track car, some of the same components, is making 351/343 at 17 psi instead of 18.

Lindsey or Vitesse are the two most preferred vendors for hp: they drive and race what they sell.

Wes, are you ever going to put up pics of your car in Customer Cars?

Sounds impressive. To answer Evan70, it's strickly a track car for a local improved production series which allows all the mods listed on that package. Intake and exhaust is basically open. Internals are to remain close to stock with the exception of port matching and valve angle grinding. Ski, how durable is the 2.5 under race conditions at 17#?

How long of a race. I haven't had any issues running 17psi for a full day (5 20 minute sessions) on 93 pump gas. If you are planning on running race gas (say 100 octane) I don't think it should be any problem at all as long as you've got good chips. Of course, you'll also want to make sure the head gasket is fresh (I like the MLS headgasket myself), and maybe go ahead and get the head cleaned up and ported/polished if that's allowed. While I think the Lindsey kit is very nice, you really should also consider Vitesse (vitesseracing.com). I think John (Vitesse) is the definitely the acknowledged leader in chips/computer tuning for the 951, and his turbos and MAFs get nothing but excellent reviews.

Races are mostly 20-30 minute sprints. The odd race might be 60. But I suppose I can always turn down the boost once I get a healthy lead (LOL). I'll look at anything right now to see what's best. I'm also looking at running the Moton Club Sports, but I don't see much info on this sight for this application.

Thanks again

The car is very reliable. It's now 2.5 years without a glitch. IT also gets driven at most of the events by two of us, Jim and myself, we try to get into groups so that the car gets a break between run groups at DE. Good maintenace and good tuning is all we do since Jim and I built it.
