Was the car running a cat? I guess not..

Chris, i just browsed around the GHL stuff. The prices in Pelican seem like alot more than just buying through GHL direct. Who knows, it may be even cheaper at other distributors.

Wonder what kind of muffler the GHL uses. If we could find that out, it'd probably make a similar sound on pretty much any 3" cat back with just that muffler.

I have never heard a 951 sound like this. I'd like to know more. My 951 does sound very unique, and pretty low tone, but not like that. Maybe it has something you do with headers?

most of the resonance is actually in the headers. getting rid of a restrictive muffler might free up some backpressure. but it would have to be a very restrictive muffler. which i dont the the 944/952 is. but the cat is!

Well, your arguments might be correct for a 2.5" exhaust with cat while my comment was based on my experience after adding a muffler on a full 3" exhaust with no cat (stock muffler instead of cat).

Also, when going to a bigger diameter pipe it is very common with bad resonance at 2500-3500 (depending on setup) where a muffler with a resonance chamber will help.
