![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I broke a timing belt a couple of months ago and am finally ready to put it all back together. This is my first time for doing the head, belts and seals. I have the headgasket set and the front seal kit and I'm confused about what the heck all these gaskets, rings, etc. are.
Here are pics of both sets (purloined from the Paragon website), please help me identify all this stuff!
Headgasket Set:
1 - Headgasket
2 - Valves seals
3 - ?
4A - ?
4B - ?
4C - ?
5 - Rear cam assembly gasket
6 - Cam assembly gasket
7 - ?
8 - ?
9 - ?
10 - ?
11 - ?
12 - Intake manifold gaskets
13 - Exhaust manifold gaskets
14 - ?
Front Seal Kit:
1- ?
2 - ?
3- ?
4 - ?
5 - ?
6 - ?
7 - ?
8 - ?
9 - ?
For the record, I'm not completely clueless as to what some of these are but anything I wasn't 100% sure of I left with a question mark.
Help!!!!
Thanks,
Greg

Hmm let's see..
3 and 4 are on various places around the camshaft.
One of the black big o-rings might be for the oil filler tube.
7,8,9 are gaskets for water connections.
10 are small washers for the big plugs on the camshaft housing.
11 are camshaft related.
14 are exhaust crush rings.
hope this helps!

#2 : Valve stem seals
#3 : Camshaft seal for rear timing belt cover-to-camshaft housing
#4a: Throttle body seal to intake manifold
#4b: Myslar seal for camshaft sleeve to camshaft
#4c: Seal on rear timing belt cover, when you take it off, look behind the housing and you shall see where it goes
#7 is for the heater tube on the cylinder head
for #13, the exhaust gaskets, make sure that the steel side is placed towards the exhaust and the carbon side faces the cylinder head.

#12 - intake manifold gaskets (#1 cylinder gasket is installed reverse of the other 3)
#1 head gasket
#6 cam tower
#7 rear water passage
on the balance shaft seals make sure you look closely at them, they are not the same seal. One is made to go the opposite direction of the other (rotation of the balance shaft) make sure they match the one you take off the car.
#4 goes behind the rear of the cam gear housing between the CG housing and the camshaft housing. there should also be onion seals for the balance shafts and cam shaft
#5 is the rear camshaft cover gasket. (should be cork)
#1&6 look like the orings on the balance shaft housing ends.
#3 looks like the back of the cam gear housing.
#5 looks like o-ring on the crank behind the cam belt pulley.
#2 valve stem seals.

1) headgasket
2) valve seals
3) distributor console oring
4a) upper balance shaft end housing oring
4b) cam housing oil journal seal mounted in distributor console
4c) transluscent seals - you should have three total. They go behind the seal spacer sleeves over the nose of the cam and both balance shaft seals.
5) Cam housing rear bearing cover gasket.
6) Cam housing gasket
7) Water pipe gasket at rear of cylinder head toward heater control valve.
8) Lower gasket for upper radiator hose connection at head.
9) Upper gasket for same as 8.
10) Aluminim sealing rings for plugs in cam housing.
11) Cam seal
12) intake gaskets
13) exhaust manifold gaskets
14) exhasut manifold sealing rings to crossover
FSK
1 & 6) Same oring. You only need one for lower balance shaft end housing.
2,7,8,9) Some of these are duplicates that came in the head set. You will have two crank seals, one for the early cars and another for later models. They have dimensions on the outer face of the seal. Match you old ones. The cam seal and the upper balance shaft seals are the same for some of the cars. Again match what you had. You have extra balance shaft end housing orings. They are both the same so no worries there.
3) Extra seal same as number 3 above.
4) Extra seal same as number 4b above.
5) Oring for crank oil pump drive sleeve. Goes between drive gear and metal washer behind crank gear.
