Turbo water pump - if it's staying on after hours, then the temperature switch for it has failed.

If you take a pic from the same position as pic 3, but from farther away, you'll get the switch in the pic. It's to the left of your hand. On a really hot day, it'll stay on for a couple minutes, otherwise the minimum is 30 seconds (governed by relay, not the thermoswitch).

It stays on for 30 seconds minimum. After that is based on the coolant temp. The sensor for it is on the other side of the throttle body, and slightly under it, look for a metal pipe with a pointy thing sticking out of it. There should be a single wire connected to it.

If it stays running, the sensor needs replacing.

Always 30 seconds unless you have been on it and the turbo is hot, then longer. The switch is in the fuse pannel and the thermostat is on the tubo coolant pipe near the other side of the throttle body (toward the center of the motor). It has a single wire connector.

Just some clarification:

The turbo cooling pump will run for a minumum of 30 seconds when ever the engine is shut down. This is controlled by the turbo cooling pump relay.

The turbo cooling pump will also run any time the tubo cooling temperature switch is operated. When the temperature switch closes it sends a ground to the relay and the relay turns the pump on.

In your case the problem could be a ground on the wire from the switch to the relay, a bad switch, or a bad relay.

The easiest way to test this circuit is to disconnect the switch, reconnect power to the pump, and then ground the wire from the switch. If the pump runs, then the relay is good. Then, reconnect the switch. If the pump runs the switch is bad. If the pump runs when the switch is disconnected and the switchwire is not grounded, then you have a problem in the wire between the switch and the relay.

Someone should make a collection of Cliff's writeups for testing the stock mechanicals and post them in the archives, because they are the best and most concise.

Does anyone know the wiring for this? Mine only runs when I have the key in the ignition at the first click. It is a pain having to wait two minutes in the car while the pump runs.
