Question What to use for cleaning the tranny gears.

After reading a lot of positive messages about using an S2 tranny or R&P on a 951 I have decided to replace my stock 951 tranny with a S2 LSD tranny I have lying around.

I was wondering what to use for cleaning the inside of the S2 tranny.

Somewhere I have read that I should fill up the tranny with DIESEL and let the car go gently through the gears for some minutes.

Is this a smart thing to do?

Agreed, unless you know that there are problems inside, just change the fluid. And you could change the fluid again after a 1000 miles or so.

If there is a problem, it would be best to open the case up and clean it properly. I would not use diesel, or any solvent, as a replacement fluid, even if only letting the car spin the input shaft in neutral. Too many bearings in there need lube.
