Talking M5 board "M5 vs. 944Turbo"

Interesting. Still shows even fellow German performance car owners do not know much (with out Google) about our cars.

Looks like respect to me. They don't know the specifics but they do know the potential which is good enough.

On the flip side, I don't usually try to mess with E39+ M5s.

"In '90, went to bigger 4 cyl, dropped the turbo, called it 964 internally I believe."

oh well. i guess i wouldnt know much about bimmers if i was pressed for it. i like how most of the time, 90% of people dont even know what these cars are, much less what they can do.

"The "problem" you'll come across with 944T is they gain an easy 150 HP by installing a $500 chip and $300 tailpipe/muffler combo. ...... These cars will run 13 flat with $800 of bolt-ons that can be installed in 3 hours. "

3 hours! hah!! i wish i gained 150hp with a chip and a muffler!

Be fair, fellas. They are doing a good job of acknowledging the potential of the 951s and are not putting them down.

Who, outside of ST, DEFASTEST (subject to change), or RolexNJ are willing to run anainst E39 M5s with a SC?

i dont think many M5 owners have SC'd cars, unless they have loads of $$$ to burn. either way, i like M5's and i got my *** handed to me by a Dinan M5 a little while back, after a vitesse kit and some dyno time i'll be back.....

how the hell can someone honestly think theres 150 hp to be gained with chip and muffler? with chips and full exhaust, you may be talking about a 50 HP gain if they are good chips.that extra 100 HP needs to come from the "ceramic" turbo, which takes only 3 hours to install. (Damn, I must have been sleeping while doing it! (I'd ratherr pull the head again.)

heh. They found us.

All good though. The one guy is right, you never can tell with these old cars who's modified, and what we've done.

For the record, I don't mess with M5's. I'm too old to get busted for such foolishness. Not that I ever drive my car anyway...

I agree, but they do have a heavier car than we do, and to get the kind of performance change our cars get from a chip and muffler, they would have to add more hp than we do. Even though they may have grunt than we do, I'd never trade mine I get my redemtion at the track.

In Vegas, they see me comin and they start sweatin' like a pregnant nun in church. Also, spanked a Dinan M5 on the I 15 freeway in Cali early last year. Fast car though. They launch hard as hell so I just give em a head start across the intersection.

I don't race very often, but I've been having a loads of fun and hard time staying under the legal speed limits, after only spending 89 bucks for a lindsey boost enhancer that took 30 minutes to install. And, I own the car, not the bank. If the prices keep dropping, I may even get yet another one. My finger was twitching over the bid button on the money pit, turbo-s that was on e-bay last wk.

M5's are fast as ***. My bro had one and we beat on it regularly. Respect to them.
