Yes - they are very nice cars but when see the new one I will crush it into dust also.
They are still a big, fat car. 1775 KG (3900 LBS )
507 HP and 383 torque.

My car has 40-50 more HP, 125 more ft./lbs torque and 1300 lbs LESS weight!!!
And I am talking about the new one!!!
I am thinking 1-2 exit lenghts I will put on one.

And yes, I am posting this because the moderator linked this thread in THEIR forum, and I hope one of those guys has the ***** to give me a run - probably not - BMW guys are usually very "nice" guys.

Well, I tried to register and it was declined. Actually, I wanted to help my friend that I mentioned in here beofre doing the M5 supercharger project. he has a 93 M5, already bad ***, but is doing a SC on top of that.

So unless the reply to my email is some sort of error on their part ofmy my registraion is not allowed......

Also, the "adminstrator" posted this thread link on their thread link.

At least they know where the most informative web board is

I know my friends E39 M5 in stock trim is about 350hp, but yes they are pretty heavy.

But I do love the "cruise" feel in them. They are certainly built to set the cruise control at 140 on the Autobahn and read the paper with no morries A nice balance of grand touring and performance.

Lawrence, you need to show me the one you've already got. It's been too long since the H-town gang had a GTG anyway.

To compare the 951 to the ///M5 is pointless.

They are two totally different cars. One is a new, huge sedan with a big back seat, every option you have heard of PLUS about 50 others that you haven't. The other is a 20 year old sports car, with pretty much one thing in mind. Being as fast as possible. The ///M5 will not sacrifice comfort for performance.

They are both great cars.

Absolutely! I would love to have an E39 M5 (a 540 being closer to reality).

Daniel,

They're too busy making money to afford those cars.

I almost got rid of my e36 for a e39 540i when the second child arrived, But I've something about quick light cars... Maybye when I get a little older and want more of a touring car I'll get a 5 series... I must say I was VERY tempted. Now I hear you can put a 540i engine in a e36 and the V8 is lighter than the I6... it's just a real pain to do....
