This is a cross post from another thread, sue me!

Here's the infamous 'Autospeed Boost Machine' which is supposed to be the top-dog of MBCs...

That looks awesome Dan!

Stay away from the LBE unless you like boost spikes... get a proper MBC. Plenty of info in history on this.

Ok, I read the info on the 'Autospeed Boost Machine' which is made by putting a pressure relief valve (which is what the boost enhancer is) in line with a pressure regulator (which is what a bleed type MBC is) and then adding the one-way valve around them. It sound like using both the LBE and a bleed type MBC would work like the 'Autospeed Boost Machine' , to control both spool up and boost. How does the ball & spring type MBC work compared to this?

I was curious about this too...has anyone used this setup as described and does it function as advertised?

So Machtig do you not think that the LBE offers a reliable boost level? I am just wondering because I have one, and I am just using the factory boost guage so I cant really see the minor boost spikes but tell me what you know..

Trackin, its pretty well documented that the LBE by design is prone to spikes. As you note the factory gauge is not the best to determine small increments in boost. You could grab a remote gauge and T it into a line to see how close it is.

I am using this set-up but using a regulator in conjuntion
with Reliaboost. The spool is even faster. If you already
have a DP wastegate installed, you should delete that
check valve discribe in part 2 of the article.

OK you have inspired me to try it out too. (reliaboost -> regulator -> dual port)
Reliaboost is sitting in the toolbox collecting dust so may as well give it a go

I don't understand why a ball and spring boost regulator wouldn't work almost excatly as the system he described. I have ran one on another turbo car with no problems. They could also be mounted insidet the car for adjustment but as with any control the longer the hose to the wastegate the slower the response. I have had trouble understanding the regulator type controller until I found it works best for dual port wastegates. If you have a stock wastegate the ball and spring seems to be to cheapest and simplest way to go. The only con that I can remember with my old setup was it would need a small adjustment when the seasons changed.
