I went to my first dyno the other day. Needless to say i had no clue what i was doing. The place does a lot of japanese cars. The afr curve was very jagged/spikey. The dyno operator then did some smoothing which made the curve curvy. Do all the afr curves that are shown on the dyno charts posted here all have smoothing but are really very spiky when not smoothed.? I am wondering if the non smoothed spiky points are normal.

Yes the spikes are normal. The spikes show whats going on with the motor. It's easier to diagnose if the motor is rich or lean and if detonation is present. The smoothing scales from 1 to 5. 5 looks prettier on paper.

If you look here: http://www.schnell951.com you will see what the raw data from my wideband looks when it is imported into Excel without any smoothing.
