O yea these are pretty crazy, I don't know too much about them but I think Michelin debuted these last year sometime

Yeah, they've been playing around with them for a few years now. I haven't seen any that have actually been used yet on a production car though.

I saw those last year. The Police Departments have been protesting the release of those tires because they can not use stop strips to catch fleeing people.

I would think a change in design would do it. Make them heavily barbed, so they stay in the tire, with the stick part slamming around preventing good steering and control.

Or hell, a small shaped explosive in a base. Enough to damage the tire, nothing else.

FYI, the production version is supposed to have sidewalls so they look like regular tires. Those particular ones in the pics are just for demo purposes.
