How'd you burn the valve?

the valve burned out of spite.

actually I'm not really sure, it doesn't look like it hit the piston, and the timing belt didn't break
but the 1 exhaust valve is slightly bent though intact,
and it is the one and only one valve that has build up on it
(the build-up would be my guess)

it is rather curious. we know it wasn't over-revved as we were just starting the car when it happened

forgot to add that I have a new adjustable fuel pressure regulator for it.

You're in Chicago, right....? Might be worth the trip & help IF we could do a dual-engine rebuild, since... mine needs it pretty badly too... Who's Mary? ...daughter? If so, then, you must be a pretty cool mom... Especially if you build her engine anything like you did your's....

Seriously... I think it would be really cool if we could organize some big get together of RL people (924/944/968 variants) for engine rebuilds- get a few who really know what theyr'e doing, even if we had to pay a little for their help- at least make sure their accomadations & meals are paid for(?)- & everybody just bust *** & get them all done... Might be kind of tough to get done- many variables on several dif levels- but I remember when Garrity Repta did a 951 engine rebuild class- he took a customer car, IIRC, & had a small groupd of RL people watch & help participate- might have built two engines, actually. But, the only bad thing about that was the price- he charged at least $700/ea IIRC- I've known mechanics who've said they'd do basically the same thing for basically free, if lunches & "refreshements" were paid for, &, if the people actually turned wrenches... hmmmmmmm..... I wonder how we could get something like this done...? I'm sure there are at least 10 turbo engines that could stand to be rebuilt right now... There are at least three that REALLY NEED it....

 

Mary is one of my best friends. She went with me to the Fest and Renntreffen. She's always had the hankering for a red 951 and Erik's car may be the ticket. It's just a long way to go and the scoring scares me a bit.

I'm always up to help people with a rebuild. I've got a huge carriage house and a large compressor with a decent contingent of air tools. Makes the work go pretty quick. You're welcome to bring yours on up, but it's definitely NOT a weekend job

Michelle... that's very sweet of you- you're a doll... I would love to do something like that, but, it might be few months (if I'm LUCKY that is...). I really need to start buying some of the parts I'll be using, piece by piece, to help cushion the blow of the total cost.... I'll get it all done....EVENTUALLY....
