If you want to build something using mandrel bends, there's a national exhaust parts wholesaler called Allied Exhaust that sells mild steel mandrel bends for about $8-$12 bucks for a U-bend depending on diameter, gauge, and bend radius. You do have to have a business license to register with them to buy the parts but it's very reasonably priced. I believe they only sell mild steel though and no stainless.
