944NA cam in 951?
Question?
What effect does the 944NA cam have on a 951? More duration and lift is what I have heard, but is that good a good thing with a forced induction engine? Also, if you were to use a 944NA cam, what year 944NA (1985.5+?) would be the best to take the cam from? Has anyone tried this and what do you think of the difference? Please share your thoughts. Thanks.

Okay,
After searching the forums I found that the NA cam of the early 944 (pre 1985.5) are the same as the 951 cam. The cam off the post 1985.5 has slightly different exhaust lift/duration. All in all, what I found was you want more duration and lift on the intake side and the exhaust side can stay the same. So, using a 944NA cam either from a pre or post 1985.5 isn't gonna make any huge improvements if any. Wow...i answered my own question.

Yep. IIRC the later n/a cam has 7 or 8 degrees of extra exhaust duration which may or may not cause the turbo to spool a teeny tiny little bit faster. That's about it. If you have one sitting around and want to swap it on as part of a head gasket job or something, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, it's probably not worth going out of one's way to do.
