here are the RESULTS...

She still over heats, does not blow hot air, Water in expansion tank stays cold and coolant and air spurs out of the bleed screw.

what am I doing wrong? I did change teh thermostat is there a chance I screwed that up?

Looks like something is up with the thermostat.

Some folks who rebuild engines drill a 1/4" hole in the thermostat. If you are blowing air as well as coolant ... still need to bleed the air out.

You also have a problem with your cooling fans. Is the temp sensor pluged in at the rad, is the fan relay in the fusebox plugged in? If the fans don't turn ... trace out the problem.

Try pouring some coolant through the bleed hole with a funnel.

You definitely have air in that system..........

The fans won't kick in if he has air pockets and the sensor is not in contact with coolant.

As has been suggested while you have the bleed screw open
- rev it up......
- Squeeze the hoses
- turn the heat full hot

Just dont overheat her for too long.......

Ok I open the bleed screw and a bunch of air with coolant keeps coming out, I squeeze the bottom radiator hose and I also put the heat to full hot...results..

1.she over heats

2.Coolant in expansion tank stays cool

3. No hot air blows

wf!! Maybe i aint bledding it right?

You need to flip it if I read your statement correctly. The end with the spring and plate need to go into the water pump - the plate at the end seals against a seal in the water pump after it opens to force water into the engine and on its way.

sorry for the big picture

If you mean you had the portion with the spring facing out of the waterpump, i am pretty sure you put the thermostat in backwards.

HOLY @43%#@%@#$!$@#%$!@#%$312%$#!@^%#%^!@#%$#!@53465!@#%!@$#$@354#%$123%$#%$# !%^$#%^ WTF!!!!!!!

When i went to replace the thermostat it was with the spring facing out, so I installed it that way!

Before that car would always heat up to the tip of the red zone on idle and my fans would always turn on after I drove her... I guess I know now why!

OMG!!!! I will flush and replace ASAP!!!

THNX for the pic and info guys....i am a much wiser rookie now.

seems like the pointy end goes in first, as how the water will move the spring/hat mechanism that way......i could be wrong.....havent done a thermostat in a while.
