Default AC cooling fins and drain

Hey Guys
I need a little help here. I want to clean out the fins shown below here and clean out the drain that's below these fins.
I assume there must be a drain for the condensation to drain out of
Two Questions:
One, can I clean the fins with warm water and mild soap ?
Two, where does the drain come out under the car ??
Thanks in advance
Regards
Ed
PS I posted a picture also of what I thought may be the drain ..If not what is that ?

Well, if you feel adventurous (sp?) you could pour some water in there and see where it comes out. Worst case, is if your drain is plugged, it will come out inside, so I would advise starting with some clean water, and small amounts.

That said, I wouldn't use soap, since it will be really tough to get all of it out.
I've vacuumed them off before, kind of reverses the airflow, and sucks a lot of the crap out, helps airflow through them.

I've used a pressure washer to clean the fins. As long as the pressure is not too high, you will not bend the fins of the condenser. I was surprised at the amount of bugs and dirt that was clogged up in there.

Get the biggest pan you can
Personally, I would put down a plastic sheet, then pour a small amount of water down. Then hop underneath. You should be able to get the pan under there before enough water falls on the sheet to cause any trouble.

Your car must be sealed up tight as a drum to feel safe enough to park it on carpet
My power steering leaks too bad for me to ever think about doing something like that.

If memory serves me, the drain comes out near the torque tube tunnel, in the vicinity of the firewall. That leads me to believe that your picture is at least close to the actual location. Wish I could remember for sure. I checked this once....

The drain is behind the radio. If you remove the plastic box under the radio you can see a black rubber tube.

I think Ed wants to see where the water comes from under the car itself.

Here is the drain plug, you can follow it:

Thanks Guys
I was looking for the one, under the car. It's about a foot + past the clutch and almost dead center over the torque tube ... I was surprised that the drain was directly over the tube rather than off to the side .. That why the tube looks rusted in that area
I will down load some pics tomorrow so anyone can find it
I just used a spray bottle with really hot water and was surprised to see it just go drip drip drip ...??
I even dumped 1/2 the spray bottle and really didn't see a hugh increase in the flow??
Just a steady drip ..
I actually connected a tube to the small hose so I could direct it in a bucket ( maybe its slowing down the flow )
I wonder what would happen if I took a compressed air hose and stuck it up at the bottom of the drain ??
I guess it would just send the $hit in the tube the wrong way ...
I may want to take to look at the tube in the car behind the radio and see if there is a clog
I never had a problem with the drain ... I
I am only in there because I wanted to clean the evaporator fins
Thanks again Guys
Regards
Ed

Ed,
Unplug the drain hose at the center console, then attach the air hose to the bottom of the drain plug (on the console) and feel/identify the air coming from under the car.

Thanks Hos
I have a **** load of wires in that area
Bi Amp and 4 pairs signal wires and cd inputs controller etc.
I would have a better chance of regrowing my hair then getting in there
I wonder if that is pinching off the line and causing just a drip to come out ??
Here are the Pics I promised for those in the future that want to find this bugger
Regards
Ed

Ed,
Yes, i removed and unplugges the stereo and the storage compartment underneath it. Then you need to remove the whole center console (which holds all the switches and arm rest).

From there, you just move all the wires aside. As you can see, there is a lot of room. But if you have a lot of water from cleaning the evaporator and all, it should drain through that pipe anyways. Unless you have a problem with drainage in the first place (you stated that you only wanted to clean the evaporator).
