Default Full Heat Problem even in AC mode

I have an 87 951 that runs full heat in AC mode. While investigating, I used Clarks Garage info and found a clip broken on the damper flap in the drivers footwell. We manually (rigged) overrode that, and the car got cooler.

I also suspect that the heater valve is stuck in the heat position. What is a good way to check that? The CG info did not have a good picture of what I should be looking for.

What are you guys using for replacement vacuum lines? Have you found anything at your local parts stores?

For the heater valave, just connect the vacuum line to any other vacuum source witha "T", that would close the heater valve.

As for vacuum lines, i got the LR silicon kit, much better than the plastic hard lines : Click Here

Anyone got a picture of the heater valve; it's so cramped back there.

Have you reached under the dash and checked the heater door clip yet? If not, stop what you're doing and check. The clip breaks ALL the time, and without it the heater door stays open.

Isn't that what he said he found and adressed in his initial post, or am I reading it incorrectly?

The best method is to look at the rear of the engine bay, you'd find a clip holding the two reference sensors and the oxygen sensor. From there, just underneath that, you should find the heater valve.

I wouldn't be suprised if the "rig" didn't fail. Even if he'd replaced the plastic clip, I'd check it again - that's how little I trust 'em. . .

I have the plastic clip on order from 944online.com I also had them send a heater valve since they were only ~$20.
