Default The MegaSquirt Thread (pics)

Got my MegaSquirt all assembled on the weekend. Havent been able to post pics till tonight since I was moving my webserver to work. Hello T1 hosting

Heres how it all arrives. A box with a ton of baggies

This is the Stimulator, the testing board for the MS. This took me 20-30 min to put together.

Second test of the main board, testing the serial communication section.

Mandatory work area shot. No, no bombs went off

Realtime display.

Assembled and in the casehalf.

Overhead shot.

So far its working well. I left it datalogging for a while, no glitches once it had an AC adapter. Let the datalog run up to 100MB or so

Next steps are loading the Extra firmware, getting it setup for the Porsche sensors and getting it installed. For a size comparison, its about the size of a thickish paperback novel once the case is together. Has support for low impedence injectors, Hall, Optical, or VR sensors, etc. Currently the MAP sensor will only do up to 20PSI of boost, but theres others thatll work to 40+PSI. Loads of stuff. <$250USD for what you see in the pics there

Its a standalone! The Extra firmware I mentioned is this stuff. MegaSquirt is totally open source and free to tinker with, thats why theres multiple firmwares and new features and such.

I think you'll enjoy this project, MS is a great system for the price and support.

Carl,
It replaces the DME/KLR, basically you have complete controll over the fuel, timing, boost and so on.

This is interesting. Does it also manage spark?

Looks good so far Brian. We'll have to share the "sensor tweaks" with each other.

Are you going fuel only to start, or strait to fuel and spark?
