Default RE: Need Replacement Fuel Gauge

Does anybody know of an aftermarket fuel gauge that works with the factory sender?

We're finishing off the GT Racing dash and need to put in a fuel gauge. Since the factory unit is part of the cluster, we can't use that, so I'm looking for a nice gauge that we can fit into the new dash.

Anybody know of one that works?

Thanks,

Jason

Yes I did...I 've got Autopower gauges. The only problem is the resistance isn't the same, so the fuel gauge reads 1/4 tank higher than what's actually in your tank.

If you can live with that, then you'll be all set.

Jason i think VDO would be the correct one. If you want to use the Autometer guage and the only is the resistance than you can find out difference and soder in a resister to lower it. Or you can call autometer and tell them you need a fuel guage with a # of resistance and they get it for you

The Autometer Guage for Fords before 1989 works. e.g. Product # 4715
This has a range of 73 Ohm Empty, 10Ohm Full

According to Clarks garage the sender of a 944 after mid 85 has a resistance of 63 Ohm empty, 2.8 Ohm full. So if you you want full to be accurate, put a 7 Ohm resistor in series. If you prefer empty to be right, use 10 Ohm.
