Default Front splitter options, aside from GT-Racing and A.I.R.

Howdy

I wanted to know of anybody has heard of or seen any other types of front lip/splitter/spoiler on a 951 besides the popular ones already mentioned. I ask because I saw a rubber/foam one on a 951 I was looking at for a potential buy last year, and I thought it was the most attractive I've seen. It was made out of the same exact material as the rear spoiler and unpainted. It seems like the best option since it does not need to be painted and it is probably a lot more pliable and forgiving on low curbs. And as I mentioned, I think this one looks a LOT nicer than those other two. It has more of the shape of the Gt-racing splitter, but it is thicker and not as extreme.

Sounds like a one off. I havent heard of anyone making that. Lots of people ripping off AIR parts though.

I have to ask the obvious question - you sure it was rubber?

I painted my AIR splitter flat black. A casual observer could mistake it for rubber, I suppose.

Otherwise, I would think that in order to be effective a rubber one would have to be made a fair bit heavier than a corresponding piece in fiberglass.

Well Broadfoot makes good stuff, but you'd have too do some work with his in order to use signals/fogs etc. The one from ESS is well, outrageously expensive, especially after shipping to the U.S. and exchange rate. I have never seen one like you describe, though there are(or were) kit makers out there for a while that may have done anything.

I wont bother mentioning the Strossek and DP Racing versions from Germany then.

You guys don't appreciate how well off you are for 944 tuning gear. We have very little over here in the UK and so a lot of stuff is purchased from the States. As a rule of thumb I reccon on what ever it says in Dollars it will cost me the same number in Pounds after transport and tax. £300 for a splitter is pretty good.

Bear in mind the ESS one is a full undertray, so it actually does something rather than just look good as a lip at the bottom of the PU.

The ESS splitter is also relatively shallow which is a big advatage on lowered cars being used on the street - we have a lot of speed humps in the UK.

I had a DP Racing splitter, which looked the nuts, but didn't last a year before it got wrecked. I'll be fitting an ESS splitter once I replace the fromt PU which was damaged when the splitter was smashed.
