Its all about reducing exhaust pressure after the turbo and bigger is always better there.
This doesn't hold up accross the board. Your exhaust has to be balanced with how much air you are able to push through the engine. If you install a huge exhaust without increasing the volume of air, you'll lose velocity and won't be able to scavenge the air out well at all.

John at Vitesse has observed power loss from toc big of an exhaust on a mostly stock car. Bigger is not always better.

Like NZ said, save the money and get a 3".
I think stewardx IS Lindsey.

I've heard differing opinions about the scavenge factor on turbo-charged powerplants. It seems to be less of a factor, though it still is a factor. If the 4"is not just overkill but may also suck away HP, I'll go with the 3".

What else can I tell you about future mod plans that'll help with the 3" vs. 4" decision?

If I'm going to stay with the factory electronics, valve sizes, and only ever run an amount of boost that will make this a reliable daily driver, will I ever grow out of the 3"?

No. Guys are running big horsepower and big turbos with 3" exhausts. I'll let them speak up. But I don't think you'll out grow the 3" on a street car.
