Default Tial 40mm question.

Has anyone installed one of these? If so, what did it take to do it? Did you have to install an adapter? And if you did, was it included with the kit, how did it install? Any info would be appreciated. I'm trying to decide which wastegate to get and if the install is pretty straightforward on this, it seems like it would be better than getting the 38 and having to buy a $100 adapter.

Just buy the WG and use the Tial plates and weld in new pipe. There is no bolt in Tial kit other than the 38mm and 46mm by some...

Do you know if the WG comes with the plates or are they a seperate order?

Depends where you buy it... You do have to order with the plates obviously, on eBay often they dont include the plates to reduce the perceived cost of them, so make sure you check. You are aware that the 38mm will support over 400WHP?

Yeah, I will probably go with the 38. I was looking at the 40 because it has 4 bolts so I thought it might be an easier install and that I might not have to either buy the $100 adapter or get a new pipe welded. It looked like I could get the 40 cheaper than the 38 with the adapter plate.

My other thought is to just shim the exisitng WG.

The 4 bolt is better in my opinion, you should look up my thread on Tial WG's leaking for some insight into why... were you hoping the 40mm had the same bolt pattern as the stock WG?

PS shimming the stock is in no way whatsoever a substitute to a Tial. I have shimmed and used the Tial... no comparison. I have even been in a car with a LR dual port, and it held better than stock for surfe, but it still dropped dramatically in higher rpm.

Yes, I was hoping. Or that they would have a bolt in adapter. Wasn't really expecting it to, but hey the sun shines on a dog's *** once in a while, if you know what I mean.

I nsaw your post about the leaking because of the blown shim. Was there another problem with it leaking?

You could always make your own adapter if you get frisky enough... yeah it was the blown gasket that did it, the stock Tial ones are crap, if you end up with the 38mm, get it from SFR, they also sell copper Tial WG gaskets! I bought 2 of them

PS If I was you and money was not too much of a big deal, I would go with the v band Tials and weld in a new pipe... very eleagant solution.

Yeah but if you were me, money would be a big deal! What's a Tial V band?

By the way, thanks for the help so far.

Yeah money is an issue for me too, hence why the welded in Tial 38mm...

Worry about leaks no more! Its the 44mm version.
