Super cool buddy. Nice ride. It looks like Mike did an excellent job. Bringing her to area dyno?

What was changed underneath to make it fit? Crossmember? Oil pan? How did the engine eletronics mesh with the car's systems? Ballpark cost? Would they do it again? Thanks

Nothing heroic done to make it fit except some clearancing of the frame rail box-outs, but only very slightly. No Mods to the crossmember. The bottom of the oil pan is flush with the bottom of the crossmember. Aside from the exhaust pipe coming from the passenger side to the Y connection, the underside looks totally stock. Mike worked out the way to reuse all the existing gauges and sensors and interface them accurately with the Delphi brain box. He has a company that makes a custom wire harness that makes the install pretty much plug and play.

The place I dynoed my car is a Corvette/GM shop. They were on Pinks. I'm very tempted to do this if I have to swap engines again and it's much cheaper than buying a C5 Corvette. He thought he could do it over casual coversation. Just curious, what's the advantages of getting an engine swap like this over buying a C5 Corvette. Was the price much lower? Novelty? It is pretty cool.

Thanks,
Mark

The 951 is smaller and lighter than the C5. Also, the aerodynamics of the 951 are still on par with the best. Best of all, this is the car I like the best. They are installing a set of TEA heads and a Lunati Vodoo cam and getting a tune this comming weekend. Looking at the 400/400 club soon.......What is really exiting is getting Powerhaus 2 to make the taller final drive gear for the 968 transaxel we run; now that the power brake issue has been solved. The whole package is kick *** good.

Did you have to go with the 968 transmission for the swap or was that an independent upgrade? Will a regular 951 transmission work with an LS1 swap?

Thanks,
Mark

I as well am curious if they are offering a kit. I hate that RH is the only company offering a conversion kit.

That said, when the motor in my 951 gives up I think I will swap in a V8. That or I'll buy a cabrio shell with a bad motor to swap into

Hi JPR,
Great conversion. BTW have you not considered
the LS2 ? Is it dimensionally different to the LS1 ?

Thanks

Very interesting, thanks. Did you use the GM Hydroboost or the electric unit that ABS sells? The Hydroboost is a popular hotrodding solution.
