Scott, hookup is pretty straightforward. The drain plugs I am making have an electrical sending unit in the middle of them. You pull your drain plug at your next oil change, replace it with the new one, connect a wire with a standard female blade terminal on the end to the drain plug and run this wire into the car's interior and hook it up to the sending unit terminal on the back of the gauge. The gauge also needs switched power and a ground wire hooked up to it. These details are all covered in detail in the instructions that come with the gauge.
My 951 registers about 180-190 degrees oil temp on the highway when the oil cooler and engine is getting lots of airflow. In stop and go driving on a hot day, or when riding hard in the mountains, the gauge goes up to 220 degrees. For what its worth...
