One, I don't fear cars. If they are faster thats fine. And two, it's still a bloated, fat, american car. Mustangs other then 1960's era will never have the class of our 951s or even the 944. Most American cars are not as refined, not as well built, and dare I say....ugly. Yes anything can be fast. Even a 1.8L civic. But that still doesn't make them classy. Mustangs I see everyday. About 30 of them. I see 951s about twice a year. So, even if the Mustang has 1000hp, I still have my 951. And I am satisifed.
That's not to say I don't appreciate lots of power. I do, but I just don't care for Mustangs. Unless it's a 66 Shelby 350GT or the 67 GT500. Other than that, I think I'll stick to my lil 4 banger.

Whats up with 951 engines blowing up all the time?

I'll agree with you on the new vettes...especially the z06 lapping the 'ring in 7:43....

Yea, granted. If you are running that high of boost that you end up with 450+hp with stock 951 lower end, it will turn into a paper wieght pretty quick.

No doubt - but then again I ran in my STOCK 951 with a new Cobra on a. . . well. . . "spirited" drive up through the canyons here and spanked his ***. It's still a Mustang and it still can't hang with the 944 in the curves - not even 20 years later. Boy was that one pissed-off looking Mustang owner - I could see the expression clearly - in my rearview.

Didn't ford recall some Cobras in the late 90's, early 2000 models that were supposed to pump out 400HP and ended up only being able to muster 350HP or so?

mike I think your talking about the 99-01 cobras...they were horrible on the dyno's and were having real problems putting up decent #'s. In 2002 they didnt even produce a cobra expect for a few in ausie land. In 2003 the cam back with a car that was actually under rated from the factory instead of over rated.

If the new cobra is anything like the 03-05 models we are prolly looking at 430 or so rwhp factory stock with gobs of tq. Not bad even with the weight oh which I highly doubt its going to be 3800 or even 3900 as some have quoted.

Old 03-05 coupes are 3500 and verts are 3700. I highly doubt there are going to gain 400lbs for the coupe....just dont see it happening.

430rwhp and 3500lbs.....might not turn well...but, man dont mess with him on the freeway.

03-04 coupes were 3665lbs, verts were 3780lbs base weights.

....... no need to love the blown stangs.

Don't forget these are STOCK bought off the shelf stangs that are generating that power.

You really think that blown stang owners don't modify as well. LOL

No need to love them.........Just don't think a stock 951 will hand a blown stang its A$$.

Thats just silly.

My friend Mary (she came with me to the Fest) wants a Saleen so bad she can taste it. We saw the perfect one in Ft. Wayne on the way home. Wow, we both drooled over that car. This one wasn't SC'd and only put out 325 ponies. THe SC'd version is close to 400 off the shelf with a 0-60 time of about 4 seconds. That's quick. I'd love to have a black Saleen with a SC (except for the 15 mpg thing )!

"This one wasn't SC'd and only put out 325 ponies."

I used to see one (SC281) Saleen on my way to work last year. Finally got to run him a bit. I posted about it right afterwards Yea, hp 400 and about 350tq.

I pulled on him, but not by much, and the cards were stakced in my favor, about a 30mph 2nd gear roll on, and about 45 degrees out. Took me to 4th to start to pull, but he also had that look on his face of "I THOUGHT I BOUGHT A KILLER CAR!!"

But the Saleen SC351???? FORGET IT!!!
